From its inception, Lighting Paradise has been the product of vision, inspiration, and perseverance. Upon returning from service in the United States Army, Andres Cabo took a temporary job as a lighting salesperson and consultant that led him to discover a passion of a lifetime— in the lighting industry and in design. “I fell head over heels with the lighting fashion business, and the daily interaction with customers,” Andres enthuses. Together with his wife Doris, the husband-and-wife team turned their entrepreneurial venture into one of the state’s leading (and largest) lighting showrooms. “ We started this business in 1992 with credit card cash advances, and now, decades later, we have evolved from a retail lighting showroom to actually designing lighting and selling to the public at wholesale prices,” Andres says. Located in Miami, Lighting Paradise is a full-service showroom with a focus on innovative product design and technology. “We are at the forefront of South Florida’s LED lighting movement, bringing in new, cost-saving innovations fresh from the top lighting fields,” Doris shares. What is your creative process? What is your favorite part of it? I visualize what the client wants to accomplish décor wise and what function they want out of their lighting fixture. I then grab their ideas and strive to make them come true with our design team. The most exciting part of this journey is experiencing the client’s delight, seeing their concept come to life as envisioned.
What are your favorite styles to work on and why?
My favorite style to work on is contemporary crystal lighting. There is so much you can do with it. It merges two styles, and time periods in history, into one.
What are you working on next?
We’re expanding our design capabilities to include energy- efficient LED lighting in all aspects of the lighting scheme for each home or project.
